On March 14, 2006 at approximately 11:50 A.M., Big Island police responded to the Waters of Life Public Charter School in Keaau after it was reported that three female juveniles from Keaau High School went looking for a female student at their school. The students upon arriving at the school pushed their way pass a counselor and assaulted the female student.

As a result of this incident, four students, one school counselor, and one teacher were injured. The three 17-year old female juvenile suspects were later arrested at Keaau High School. After further investigations and conferral with the Prosecutor’s Office, the suspects were charged for numerous assaults, burglary, criminal property damage, trespass offenses and released to their parents.

The Juvenile Aid Section in Hilo is continuing the investigation which will possibly lead to other charges involving additional suspects.
