The Hawaii County Police Department’s D.A.R.E. program will sponsor a Halloween Festival on Sunday, October 28, 2001, in Hilo’s Lincoln Park.
Dubbed the D.A.R.E. Halloween Festival in the Park 2001, the event, scheduled from 4 to 7 p.m., will feature games, contests, food, entertainment and Halloween safety tips for Big Island kids and their parents.
Activities include games, a Halloween costume parade, a Safety Kids Puppet Show, a Party Bouncer and contests. Food and beverages will be available at the D.A.R.E Diner.
Scheduled to make special appearances are Daren, the worldwide mascot for D.A.R.E.; Hoppy, the Big Island’s own D.A.R.E. mascot; and McGruff.
To make parking easier, a free shuttle will run between Lincoln Park and the Hilo police station on Kapiolani Street every 15 minutes.
