After a 16-month investigation, Hilo Vice Section and Criminal Investigation Unit officers arrested Wednesday (December 12, 1999) arrested a 57-year-old Hilo man on a variety of gambling offenses.
In conjunction with the serving of two search warrants at 4:35 p.m., the officers arrested the suspect on 32 counts of promotion of gambling and 32 counts of possession of gambling records.
The investigation involved a “6-5” sports betting operation conducted at various locations in the Hilo area.
The suspect was released pending further investigation. Because the investigation is continuing, no further details were released.
