The Kona Crime Prevention Committee recognized Officer Marjorieann Kahookele as "Officer of the Month" in a luncheon ceremony Wednesday (August 6) at King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel.

Kahookele was recognized for her work as a School Resource Officer at Kealakehe Intermediate School, for teaching Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) to students at three West Hawaii schools, for counseling students and for her alcohol, drug abuse and anti-bullying presentations.  

As "Officer of the Month," she is eligible to become "Officer of the Year."

The Kona Crime Prevention Committee is an organization that encourages community involvement in aiding and supporting police in West Hawaii.
