MEDIA RELEASE
Police are advising Hilo motorists that there will be normal two-way traffic patterns on Waianuenue Avenue and Kapiolani Street from Monday through Friday (March 25-29, 2002).
The usual weekday morning one-way traffic patterns will not be in effect because public schools will be closed for spring break that week.
Two holidays will also fall during the week. Prince Kuhio Day, a state holiday, will be observed on Tuesday, the 26th, and Good Friday, a national holiday, will be observed on the 29th.
The one-way traffic patterns will start again when school resumes on Monday (April 1, 2002).
When schools are in session, traffic on Waianuenue below Komohana Street is one-way in the makai, or seaward, direction from 7:15 to 8 a.m. on school days. During the same hours, traffic along Kapiolani between Haili Street and Waianuenue is one-way in the Puna direction.
